Euan Uglow stands out as one of the most important figurative painters of the late 20th century. Best known for his still lifes and nude paintings, Uglow frequently painted friends, political figures, and nude models in a choppy, flattened space. Uglow first studied at the Camberwell School of Art, where he was taught by William Coldstream, and later followed Coldstream to the Slade School of Art in 1951. He exhibited extensively with Browse and Darby in London.
