Anthony Devas (1911-1958)

Anthony Devas (1911 – 1958) was a British portrait painter who was associated with members of the Eustan Road School. He was born in Bromley, Kent and studied at the Slade School of Art from 1927.

During the war he served as an air raid warden, due to ill health preveting him from joining the army, and along side this became an established portrait painter, holding his first solo exhibition  at Agnew’s Gallery in 1941.
